Lethbridge, Alberta police are asking for the public’s help to track down a 32-year-old man wanted on a charge of aggravated assault. A warrant has been issued for Deng Madut Nyag, and officers believe he may be in the Lethbridge or Calgary area.
The Lethbridge Police Service says efforts to find Nyag have not been successful so far. They have released a photo of him to make it easier for residents to spot and report him.
Aggravated assault is a serious criminal charge that involves wounding, maiming, disfiguring or endangering the life of the victim. Police are asking anyone who sees Nyag or knows where he might be to call them at 403-328-4444 and mention file number 26012103. This wanted person alert comes as Lethbridge police continue working to bring down crime rates, which have seen an overall increase of 10.7 per cent in the first nine months of 2025 compared to the year before. Violent crimes, in particular, jumped by more than 20 per cent over the same stretch. In May 2026, a joint enforcement blitz with provincial sheriffs cleared 151 warrants and led to 41 arrests for offences like sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm and drug trafficking.
