Ratepayers in the Rural Municipality of Dauphin can now review the municipality’s annual auditor report, which gives a clear look at how public money was managed over the past year. The municipality posted a public notice about the report on June 26, 2026, letting residents know it is ready for inspection.
Under Manitoba’s Municipal Act, auditors must hand in their reports to council by June 30 each year. Once council has received the report, the municipality has to tell the public as soon as possible that the report and financial statements are available during regular office hours. This year’s notice came just before that deadline.
People who want to see the full report can stop by the RM of Dauphin municipal office at Highway 20A East in Dauphin. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., except on weekends and statutory holidays. Residents can also contact the office at 204-638-4531 or by email at [email protected] for more details.
The auditor report is prepared by an independent accounting firm and gives an unbiased review of the municipality’s financial health. It covers things like how tax dollars were spent, what the municipality owns and owes, and whether proper accounting rules were followed. For the roughly 2,100 people who live in the RM of Dauphin, it’s a chance to see where their money went and how council is managing community resources.
The RM of Dauphin surrounds the City of Dauphin in Manitoba’s Parkland Region and covers a large rural area of over 1,500 square kilometres. The annual financial disclosure is a standard step that all Manitoba municipalities must take, helping keep local government open and accountable to the people it serves.
