Families in Spruce Grove can enjoy free outdoor play again as the city’s Pop-Up Playground program returns for summer 2026. Starting July 6, the program brings organized activities to seven local parks on weekdays until August 21.
The drop-in program runs Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a break on the August 3 holiday. Staff set up themed games, crafts, and activities each week, designed for children ages 6 to 12. Parents or caregivers must stay and supervise.
According to the City of Spruce Grove, the playground rotates through seven locations: Central Park on King Street, Rotary Playscape on Tri Leisure Way, Columbus Park on Main Street, Fairways Park on Fairway Drive, Jubilee Park on Grove Drive, Longview Park on Longview Drive, and Aspenglen Park at Grove Drive and Calahoo Road.
A separate program for toddlers returns as well. Pop-Up for Tots runs every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lions Log Cabin and Central Park. It offers sensory play and loose parts exploration for children ages 2 to 4 alongside their caregivers.
All activities are led by city program staff certified in Intermediate First Aid, CPR, and the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development. The program is part of the city’s larger Summer in the City lineup from the Recreation and Culture department.
An End of Summer Bash is set for August 17 to 21, with special activities to close out the season.
