The Town of Westlock is looking for residents, business owners, and property owners to join advisory committees, including one that will help shape the future of the downtown area. Applications are open until July 17, 2026, and the new terms will start in August.
The town is recruiting six members-at-large for the Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan (DARP) Advisory Committee. This group will provide community input on a plan covering about 59.54 hectares of downtown land, with the project expected to wrap up by July 31, 2027.
The DARP initiative is supported by a $125,000 grant from the Northern and Regional Economic Development Program and aims to create a detailed vision for downtown revitalization. The committee will meet several times as the project moves through background review, concept development, public engagement, and final plan adoption over the next year.
Anyone interested must be a resident, business owner, or property owner in Westlock. The committee has no decision-making power but will advise on the direction of the plan.
There are also openings on other boards: two spots on the Municipal Planning Commission and one on the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board.
