Parents in Ponoka can now register their children for the Active Adventures summer camp, a five-day program running July 20 to 24 at the Ponoka Arena Complex. The camp is open to kids ages 6 to 14 and costs $200 per child for the week.
The Town of Ponoka is putting on the camp as part of its summer recreation lineup. Each day runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and this session will focus on swimming and biking. Organizers say it’s a fun way for kids to be active and enjoy the outdoors.
Families need to bring a bike, helmet, swim gear, running shoes, and a lunch. Registration is already open and can be done online through the Town of Ponoka website or in person at the Ponoka Aquaplex at 5315 46 Avenue.
The camp takes place at the Ponoka Arena Complex, with swimming activities held at the nearby Aquaplex and biking sessions making use of local trails. The Aquaplex features a 25-metre pool, diving tank, wading pool, hot tub, and sauna. The town also maintains about 10 kilometres of multi-use trails along the Battle River Valley that are suitable for cyclists.
Summer recreation registration opened in early June, and programs run through late August. For more details, residents can contact the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department at 403-783-4431 or [email protected].
