A person is dead and another is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a collision on Confederation Line in Sarnia, Ontario, late Monday night, July 6, 2026.
The Sarnia Police Service says emergency services were called to the stretch between Modeland Road and Blackwell Sideroad just after 11:00 PM. Two people were taken to hospital with critical injuries; one did not survive.
Confederation Line was closed in both directions for most of Tuesday, July 7, while collision investigators examined the scene. The road reopened shortly after 3:00 PM that afternoon. Police have not released the names or ages of those involved, pending notification of next of kin.
Around the same time as the crash, Bluewater Power crews responded to a collision involving a hydro pole in the Heritage Park area, but police have not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected.
