The Town of Olds has unveiled a proposed 10-year improvement plan for Centennial Park, and residents are being invited to share their thoughts on the future of the beloved community hub. Released on July 6, 2026, the 2026-2036 Centennial Park Improvement Plan aims to guide long-term upgrades and modernization at the 5037 53 Street greenspace in Uptowne Olds.
The plan was developed over the past year by a volunteer committee, with input from approximately 318 locals who took part in the 2026 Budget Survey. Working together, the group identified ways to make the park more accessible, improve gathering areas, add amenities, and enhance the overall visitor experience while keeping Centennial Park as a valued community space. Projects will be completed in phases as funding becomes available through future budget discussions and Council priorities.
Centennial Park has been a cornerstone of Olds since 1967. Over the decades, it has grown to include the Olds Skatepark (opened in fall 2010), the Olds Splashpark (opened 2015), an outdoor rink that doubles as pickleball courts, a covered cook shack, a gazebo, paved trails, picnic tables, and public washrooms. The park also hosts a long list of community events, from Canada Day celebrations to the annual Light Up Parade.
Mayor Dan Daley is encouraging everyone to review the draft and give their feedback. “This long-term plan will help guide future improvements to one of our most loved parks, and we’d like to hear what you think,” Daley said. Residents can view the proposal and submit comments through the Engage Olds online portal during the summer. Town Council will consider approval after the public feedback period closes.
