Monday began with sunny skies becoming a mix of sun and cloud, and a high of 22°C—just above the normal July maximum of 21°C. The overnight low is expected to dip to 8°C.
A slight shift arrives Tuesday with a 30 per cent chance of afternoon showers and a risk of thunderstorms, typical for Alberta’s peak severe weather season in July. The high will reach 25°C before skies start to clear midweek.
By Thursday, residents can expect full sunshine and a high of 27°C—six degrees above the historical July normal. Friday stays warm and sunny at 25°C, offering ideal conditions for outdoor activities and gardening as the workweek ends.
The warming trend follows an unusually wet June across the province. Edmonton set a new rainfall record of roughly 260 millimetres, surpassing the previous record of 216.5 millimetres from 1914. While Hinton’s specific June rainfall totals are not available, the region is now settling into more typical summer weather.
Environment Canada meteorologist Brian Proctor had forecast that early July would remain “somewhat cool and unsettled” before trending warmer, and the current outlook aligns with that prediction.
