Hinton, Alberta, will shake off a cool, rainy start to the week with temperatures climbing steadily toward a warm Friday, according to Environment Canada.
Monday brought a high of just 11 C with a chance of showers, and Tuesday is expected to reach 14 C with sun in the morning giving way to a mix of sun and cloud and a 30 percent chance of showers late in the afternoon. Sunny skies arrive Wednesday and Thursday with highs of 18 C, with Friday warming up to 19 C under sunny conditions.
The weekend looks pleasant too, with a mix of sun and cloud and highs near 20 C on Saturday. No weather alerts are currently in effect for the Hinton area.
The week’s warm-up follows a sharp cool-down over the weekend. Hinton hit 21 C on Sunday afternoon, but by Monday afternoon the temperature at the Jasper Warden Station, about 30 kilometres north of town, had dropped to 10 C.
This week’s highs of 18 to 20 C are slightly above Hinton’s normal September daytime high of 16 C, making the mild, sunny stretch a welcome treat for residents.
