The City of Mount Pearl has packed the weekend with events across town. Most are free, including public swims, yoga, and family drone racing. Ticketed events include a family-friendly magic show ($5). Some activities require registration, so residents should check the full schedule online.
The weekend’s biggest draw is a Sunday afternoon soccer game between the Halifax Wanderers U21 team and the Nottingham Forest Academy. Kickoff is at noon on July 19 at the Team Gushue Sports Complex. The match is part of the 2026 International Summer Series, which wraps up in Charlottetown, PEI on July 24. Last year’s series drew sold-out crowds in Halifax, Charlottetown, and Saint John.
Nottingham Forest is a historic English club: two-time European Cup winners and English First Division champions in 1978. Their academy squad offers a rare chance for local fans to see a Premier League development team play in Newfoundland. After the match, a FIFA World Cup final watch party is planned for later that afternoon.
City Days closes with the Mega Birthday Bash on July 19 at the Ruth Avenue Sports Complex. The concert features live music, food, and a 19+ beer tent. Entry is by donation: bring non-perishable food items or cash for local food banks. The St. Vincent de Paul Society runs two food banks in Mount Pearl and has seen rising demand. Donations around Christmas and City Days help keep shelves stocked through the year.
