Whitchurch-Stouffville residents have a chance to share their spending priorities for the 2027 budget through an online survey and budget simulator. The Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville launched its annual budget engagement campaign this summer, with the aim of shaping how tax dollars are spent on services and projects. Those who complete the survey can enter to win a $100 gift card to a local business.
The town’s budget team will be out in the community on August 13, 2026, during the Moonlight Madness event on Main Street. Residents can speak with staff in person, share their thoughts, and ask questions about the budget process. Moonlight Madness runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and features sidewalk sales, live music, and family activities.
Mayor Iain Lovatt, who under Ontario’s Strong Mayor Powers can propose the budget, has stressed that community input remains essential. “This is still your budget,” he said during the 2026 budget engagement. The town also held sessions earlier this summer at the Strawberry Festival on June 27 and Library Discovery Day on July 4.
Last year’s engagement showed infrastructure as the top resident priority, followed by fire and emergency services. The 2026 budget totaled $119 million, with about $82.7 million for daily operations and $36.3 million for capital projects. It included a 3.5% property tax hike, adding roughly $80 to the average homeowner’s town tax bill. Whitchurch-Stouffville had the sixth lowest residential tax rate in the Greater Toronto Area in 2025.
The 2027 budget is expected to be presented in January 2027, with final adoption by council in February 2027. Residents can find the survey and budget simulator on the town’s website.
