Stettler will see a few showers and a risk of thunderstorms today before a significant warmup later this week, according to Environment Canada.
The forecast for Monday, July 20, 2026 calls for mainly cloudy skies with showers starting this morning and a risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon. Widespread smoke is also expected to move in this afternoon. Winds will be from the northwest at 20 km/h gusting to 40 before becoming light this morning, then becoming north 20 km/h gusting to 40 near noon. The high will be 21°C with a humidex of 26.
No weather alerts are in effect for the Stettler area, despite the thunderstorm risk. As of 9:00 a.m., conditions were 15°C with humidity at 97 per cent and west-northwest winds at 12 km/h.
The smoke is coming from wildfires in northern Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and British Columbia. Environment Canada meteorologist Brian Proctor has warned that smoke from British Columbia could become more of a concern if drought conditions continue.
After today’s unsettled weather, skies will clear and temperatures will climb. Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 28°C, and Thursday will be sunny with a high of 31°C, well above the July average high of 23°C.
Residents with outdoor plans on Monday should keep an eye on the sky and be ready to move indoors if a thunderstorm develops.
