The smoke is expected to linger through Monday night, with temperatures rising from a high of 22°C on Monday, peaking at 29°C on Thursday, and settling at 27°C by Saturday.
According to the Environment Canada forecast, there is a 30 percent chance of showers on several days this week, including Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Monday will bring a risk of thunderstorms in the afternoon, and a humidex of 26 could make it feel warmer than the actual temperature. Winds could gust up to 40 km/h from the north near noon.
The smoke blanketing the area comes from wildfires burning across Canada, where 3,787 fires have already scorched about 2.9 million hectares as of July 18, 2026. Alberta is one of the provinces facing high wildfire risk this season. July is also the peak month for severe weather in the province, bringing an elevated chance of heavy downpours, large hail, and even tornadoes.
