Hinton residents can now weigh in on what community programs they want to see in the years ahead. Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) launched a five-minute priorities survey on July 15, 2026, and it is open until August 26, 2026.
The survey asks residents to rank what matters most to them, covering areas such as social clubs, volunteer opportunities, and other community supports. The feedback will help guide where time and resources are directed.
FCSS has been part of Hinton for nearly 40 years. It runs a broad range of prevention-based services, from youth programs and senior supports to child care and family resource networks. The department designs its work around four provincial mandates: homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, and mental health. It also runs programs like the Friendly Visitor Program, which helps reduce social isolation, and coordinates with local partners such as the West Yellowhead Family Resource Network.
The survey is quick, and residents can fill it out online. More responses will give a clearer picture of community priorities. “Complete this quick 5-minute survey to help identify priorities and guide future FCSS programs and services,” the town said in its announcement. Hinton’s FCSS programs are funded through an 80/20 partnership, with the Government of Alberta providing 80% and the Town of Hinton covering the remaining 20%. That means local priorities directly influence how provincial dollars are spent here. The survey closes August 26, and results may guide planning for services that touch everything from teen drop-in hours to caregiver education and meals on wheels.
