Applewood Farm in Whitchurch-Stouffville has closed its gates after wrapping up the 2026 strawberry season. The pick-your-own operation, located at 12416 McCowan Road, will remain closed until late August when its apple orchards open to the public.
Visitors hoping to pick strawberries will have to wait until next year. A notice on the farm’s homepage reads: STRAWBERRY SEASON IS NOW OVER. SEE YOU IN 2027 FOR STRAWBERRIES.
The farm’s Admissions page lists apple picking admission as beginning August 29, 2026, while the homepage says more generally that it will reopen at the end of August.
Applewood Farm has been run by the Passafiume family for nearly 50 years, with three generations now working the land. It was one of the first farms in the area to offer pick-your-own fruit and now includes 32 acres of apple trees and more than five acres of strawberry fields.
The apple season traditionally kicks off on the Saturday of Labour Day weekend. According to the farm’s posted schedule, the first variety available will be Ginger Gold, starting September 4, 2026. In total, the farm grows 13 apple types, including McIntosh, Cortland, Ambrosia, Honeycrisp, and Royal Gala.
The farm also offers seasonal attractions such as wagon rides, sunflower fields, a corn maze, a children’s play area, and pumpkin picking in the fall. A chip truck is on site during weekends.
