Orangeville drivers will face another road closure this week as Town of Orangeville crews begin sidewalk and curb work on Broadway between Centre Street and John Street. The work started on Wednesday and is expected to take up to eight weeks, with lane reductions and possible disruptions in the area.
The addition brings the number of active construction zones across Orangeville to 17 streets this week, as the town pushes through its summer infrastructure program. Other roads under construction include Amanda Street, Andrew Avenue, Bythia Street in two sections, Centre Street, Crimson Crescent, Dawson Road, Doctors Lane, Dufferin Street in two sections, Green Street, Ontario Street, Passmore Avenue, Steven Street, and Victoria Street. The Mill Creek rehabilitation project between Dawson Road and Bythia Street is also underway.
The town’s construction schedule shows a mix of projects ranging from sidewalk removal and replacement to full road reconstruction. The Broadway work is part of a larger resurfacing effort that will stretch 150 metres west of Centre Street to John Street.
These projects are funded through the 2026 town budget, which was adopted by council in December 2025 with a 3.33 percent total tax impact. The budget includes 1.98 percent for town-run services and 1.35 percent for Ontario Provincial Police services.
The Mill Creek rehabilitation, a major project that started July 2, is restoring the creek section between Dawson Road and Bythia Street with flood resilience improvements, bank stabilization, a new pedestrian bridge, and a multi-use trail.
Residents can expect local traffic only signs in most active construction areas. The town advises drivers to plan alternate routes and follow posted signage for everyone’s safety.
