High River, Alberta, residents looking to connect with neighbours and learn about local home options can stop by a community barbecue and open house this Friday. Nelson Homes is hosting the event on July 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at its Sales Centre at 64258 – 466 Ave. E, just off Highway 2A. The gathering is listed through the High River & District Chamber of Commerce.
The afternoon offers a chance to enjoy some food and conversation while exploring what the homebuilder has to offer. Nelson Homes, based in Lloydminster, has grown into Canada’s largest home manufacturer, having built more than 50,000 homes across the country. Its High River location specializes in ready-to-move and modular homes, with customizable layouts ranging from bungalows to two-storeys and cottages.
The event lands during a busy stretch for the Foothills region. The Battle of the Foothills Chuckwagon Races run July 23 to 26 at the High River Agricultural Society grounds, bringing exciting World Professional Chuckwagon Association action to town. Later that same afternoon, the High River Farmers’ Market opens from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on 4th Ave SW in the downtown, a summer tradition now in its 35th year.
The Chamber, which represents more than 300 local businesses, regularly promotes events that build connections and support the local economy. Friday’s barbecue is a chance for residents to meet the Nelson Homes team, ask questions, and spend time with fellow community members.
