High Level, Alberta residents can expect an unsettled start to the week with showers and a risk of thunderstorms before things clear up on Thursday, according to Environment Canada.
Tuesday will see increasing cloudiness with a 60 percent chance of showers this afternoon and a risk of thunderstorms. Fog patches that developed overnight should dissipate in the morning. The high will reach 20°C, which is a touch below the late July normal of 23°C. Overnight, clouds stick around with a 60 percent chance of showers and another risk of a thunderstorm, and temperatures will dip to a low of 11°C.
Wednesday brings more of the same: cloudy skies, a 60 percent chance of showers, and another risk of afternoon thunderstorms. The high will again be around 20°C. For residents eyeing a break, the forecast turns a corner on Thursday with clearing conditions and a sunny sky pushing the temperature to 22°C. Friday looks even brighter, with a mainly sunny high of 24°C, right around the average for this time of year.
However, the sunny stretch won’t last. Another weather system is expected to roll in for the weekend, bringing showers Saturday and a chance of showers Sunday. Highs both days will hover near 18°C.
No weather alerts are currently in effect for the High Level area. Alberta’s severe thunderstorm season runs from June through August, with July typically seeing peak activity, so the chance of isolated storms this time of year is not unusual.
