Brantford Police Service and the Neighbourhood Alliance of Brantford are inviting residents to complete a free home property safety audit, with a chance to win a security camera and other prizes. The contest runs until October 17, 2026, and is open to all Brantford residents who finish the self-assessment and a short online survey.
The safety audit is a checklist that helps homeowners spot ways to reduce burglary risk. It covers things like landscaping, lighting, doors, locks, windows, and alarms. Participants do not need to share their audit results with anyone.
Once the audit is done, residents fill out the Neighbourhood Home Property Safety Audit Survey at surveymonkey.com/r/BrantfordHomeSafetySurvey. Winners will be picked randomly, and the grand prize is a security camera with solar panels worth $225.
The campaign is a partnership between police, the alliance, and the City of Brantford. Chief Jason Saunders, who took over the police service in February 2025, has made proactive neighbourhood safety a priority for 2026.
Brantford’s Crime Severity Index has been dropping for several years. The city’s national ranking improved from 10th in 2018 to 20th in 2024, showing that community-led efforts are making a difference.
