The Town of Watson Lake Parks and Recreation department is bringing back its annual Inflatable Costume Race at Wye Lake Park on August 15, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. The event, described as fun for all ages, invites anyone to don an inflatable costume and race around the park’s scenic lakeside trail.
The race is part of The Buzz community event series running through the summer. Families and individuals can take part in the quirky competition that turns physical activity into a spectacle of inflatable suits bouncing along the 2.5 km loop trail. The trail circles the lake and includes a boardwalk and viewing platform, making it a lively backdrop for both racers and spectators.
Wye Lake Park, a 26-hectare green space in downtown Watson Lake, offers more than just the race route. The park includes a playground, picnic area, gazebo and band shell, and a cabin with washrooms and a concession. Parking for about 50 vehicles is available on site. The park sees daily use year-round for walking, jogging, bird watching, sledding, and cross-country skiing, but the Inflatable Costume Race adds a burst of summer silliness to the mix.
