The 11th edition of Oldstoberfest returns to Olds Regional Exhibition grounds from September 10 to 12, 2026, bringing back its unique blend of professional rodeo and Bavarian fun. Vendor and competitor applications open August 15 for anyone wanting to be part of the festival.
Known as the world’s first and only Bavarian Rodeo, Oldstoberfest mixes traditional prairie western heritage with lively Bavarian culture. The event typically draws 8,000 to 9,500 visitors each year and creates over $1 million in economic spinoffs for the town and Mountain View County.
This year’s schedule offers two nights of action on Friday and Saturday. Pro rodeo performances start at 6 p.m., followed by outdoor concerts at 8:30 p.m. and live bands in the biergarten at 9:30 p.m. The rodeo is approved as a Maple Leaf Circuit event under the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association, with a $5,000 purse in major events.
Oldstoberfest started in 2015 and hit its 10-year mark last year. C5 Rodeo, led by rodeo coordinator Gillian Grant, supplies the stock and runs the rodeo production. The company has previously been named CPRA Stock Contractor of the Year, bringing top-tier rodeo talent to the Olds grounds each fall.
The Olds Regional Exhibition has been part of the community since 1899, when local farmers and ranchers founded it as the Olds Agricultural Society. Hosting Oldstoberfest continues that long tradition of gathering people for agriculture and entertainment. This year’s title sponsor is Pomeroy Inn & Suites at Olds College, providing nearby accommodations for out-of-town guests. The Town of Olds, through its utility Mountain View Power, contributes $10,000 to help make the festival happen.
