Cornwall families can get an up-close look at fire trucks, police cruisers, ambulances, snowplows, and transit buses when the annual Touch-a-Truck event returns to Lamoureux Park on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m. The free event, hosted by the City of Cornwall, invites residents of all ages to explore the vehicles and meet the city staff who operate them.
A sensory-friendly quiet hour runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., during which vehicle horns, sirens, and flashing lights will be turned off to create a welcoming space for individuals with sensory sensitivities. Throughout the evening, 12 municipal department booths will offer a Kids’ Passport Challenge. Families who collect stamps at all 12 booths and return their passport to the City Clerk’s Office booth can enter a prize draw.
At 6:30 p.m., Junkyard Symphony, an award-winning eco-entertainment group from Ottawa, will perform until 7:30 p.m. The group uses recycled objects as musical instruments to promote environmental awareness through music and comedy. After the performance, Arts in the Park will host a free outdoor screening of Bee Movie at dusk at the Lions Club Bandshell in Lamoureux Park.
Last year’s TouchaTruck event drew thousands of people to Lamoureux Park and was described as a summer highlight. The event, held in front of the Cornwall Civic Complex, has become a staple of Cornwall’s late-August calendar.
