The Sarnia Sting’s charitable arm, Sting Assists, has donated over $130,000 to 32 local organizations in Sarnia-Lambton plus a Lambton College student scholarship. The funds come from the foundation’s 50/50 raffle program during the 2025-26 Ontario Hockey League season.
Sting Assists President Cam Gordon said the donations reflect fan support at home games throughout the season. “We are incredibly proud to give back over $130,000 to 32 vital organizations that do so much to support youth across our community,” Gordon said.
He added that Sting Assists has donated more than $500,000 to Sarnia-Lambton organizations over the past three hockey seasons, with this year’s total up from $120,000 last season.
Recipients include BGC Sarnia-Lambton, The Inn of the Good Shepherd, Literacy Lambton, Special Olympics, Petrolia Optimist, Wyoming Minor Ball, Sarnia Brigade Minor Baseball, East Lambton Hockey Association, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, among others.
The Sting Assists Scholarship went to Lambton College student Mackenzie Isaac. Sting Assists was founded in 2022 as the Sarnia Sting Community Fund, a non-profit focused on sport and community philanthropy to support youth and make Sarnia-Lambton a better place for all.
Jake Bourrie, Vice President of Business Operations for the Sarnia Sting, thanked the Sting Assists executive board and game-day volunteers for their dedication to community fundraising.
