Fans of comics, gaming, and pop culture can celebrate their passions close to home when the third annual MVC Comic-Con returns to Mountain View County on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The free event runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at The Heritage Centre, located just east of Cremona, Alberta.
Five local libraries have joined forces to organize the convention: the Carstairs Public Library, Didsbury Municipal Library, Olds Municipal Library, Sundre Municipal Library, and Cremona Municipal Library. Together, they aim to bring the community together over shared interests in fandom.
Attendees can explore a vendor market with more than 22 vendors, try their hand at video games, build in the LEGO Zone, or get a caricature by Mark Cromwell. The day also features cosplay contests for children, youth, and adults, along with panel discussions on D&D character creation and cosplay makeup.
Featured guests include award-winning cosplayers Autumns Cosplay, a Team Canada representative at the World Cosplay Summit, and SodaPop Cosplay. Families can also enjoy Superhero Storytime and Nerd-Prov comedy with The 404s. The Under the Covers mobile book bus will be on site as well.
Free shuttle transportation is available from Mountain View County communities (excluding Cremona, where the event is held), with support from Family and Community Support Services. Carstairs Public Library has seen program participation climb from 2,600 in 2023 to 3,920 in 2024, and hosted its first Comic Con in October 2024 as a community-building initiative.
