Magrath High School has a new principal for the upcoming school year. Westwind School Division announced on August 5, 2026 that Stephen Gibbings will lead the school starting in the 2026/2027 school year.
Gibbings comes to Magrath from Cardston High School, where he served as Vice Principal. According to Westwind School Division, Gibbings brings school leadership experience to the role.
The appointment follows a series of principal changes across the division in 2026. Leadership transitions have also taken place at Raymond High School, Westwind Alternate School, and Westwind Colony School.
Magrath High School serves about 430 students in grades 7 through 12. The school is part of Westwind School Division No. 74, which educates roughly 4,600 students in 13 community schools across Southern Alberta.
Gibbings will work with the Magrath High School team as the school prepares for the new academic year.
