Brantford Transit will launch four new bus routes and retire four existing ones—Routes 3, 4, 4A, and 4C—on Sunday, September 6, 2026, as part of Phase 2 of its Moving Forward Transit Optimization Plan. The changes are designed to improve reliability, expand coverage on the north side, and give riders more direct travel options across the city.
A new core Route B will run north-south between Eagle Place and Brantford Commons, replacing the western sections of Routes 4A and 4C. The route will continue into Eagle Place through the Entertainment District, Erie Avenue, and the Woodland Cultural Centre. Three additional routes—23, 24, and 25—will serve the north end, taking over service previously handled by Routes 3, 4A, and 4C.
Riders who currently use Routes 3, 4, 4A, or 4C will need to plan for the changes. The city is hosting a public open house on Wednesday, August 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Charlie Ward Room at City Hall, 58 Dalhousie Street. Residents can review maps and schedules and ask questions about how their trips will be affected.
Phase 2 follows Phase 1, which introduced Route A and Route 20 in August 2025. The full five-phase plan will increase annual service hours from 86,300 to 204,700. That expansion comes as ridership has climbed significantly since 2021, according to the city.
