Watson Lake, Yukon is getting a stretch of warm late-summer weather before a cooler, rainy pattern arrives at the end of the week. According to The Weather Network and Environment Canada, the community can expect mainly sunny to partly cloudy skies through Wednesday, with daytime highs reaching 20 to 21°C.
Tuesday, August 25 will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 percent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm late in the afternoon. Wednesday, August 26 is forecast to be the warmest day of the week at 21°C. No weather alerts are currently in effect for the region.
The warm stretch will end Thursday, August 27, when rain moves in. The forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of precipitation and about 10 mm of rain, with temperatures dropping to around 14 to 16°C. Environment Canada’s seven-day outlook shows highs of 14 to 16°C from Thursday through the weekend, with overnight lows between 6 and 8°C. A chance of showers lingers through Friday and into the start of next week.
This week’s temperatures are close to the seasonal average for Watson Lake, which typically sees August highs of about 18°C and lows near 5°C. The shift from warm and sunny to cool and showery marks a transition toward fall weather patterns that are normal for this part of the Yukon.
