Westlock is in for a sunny stretch after Sunday’s unsettled weather, according to Environment Canada. The forecast calls for mostly clear skies and daytime highs between 25 and 27°C from Monday through Thursday.
No weather alerts are in effect for the region. Current conditions at Pibroch as of noon Monday show a temperature of 20.4°C with 65 percent humidity and a humidex of 24.
Monday will be a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 25°C. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be sunny with highs of 26°C, and Thursday will warm to 27°C. Nights will be clear and cool, with lows ranging from 8 to 12°C. Thursday night brings a 60 percent chance of showers.
The UV index is forecast to be 5, or moderate, so residents spending time outside should use sun protection during peak hours.
This warm spell continues a summer trend. Environment Canada and The Weather Network predicted a warmer-than-normal summer for Alberta, with northern regions including Westlock seeing an 80 to 90 percent chance of above-average temperatures. August is normally Westlock’s sunniest month, with an average of 240 hours of sunshine.
