Showers and a risk of thunderstorms will continue through Monday, August 24, 2026, in Stratford, Ont., according to Environment Canada. Daytime temperatures will stay around 16 to 18°C with an 80% chance of rain, and as of 3:00 p.m., light showers were already falling with a temperature of 16.7°C.
A Special Weather Statement was issued for Stratford and southern Perth County on Saturday, August 22, warning of locally heavy rainfall. Environment Canada said additional amounts of 30 to 50 mm were possible from lake effect showers moving off Lake Huron. The statement noted that water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas, and residents should not drive through flooded roadways.
Ground conditions are already saturated, raising the risk of standing water. Environment Canada advises avoiding low-lying areas and watching for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority continues to monitor water levels, with normal watershed flood status in effect.
Conditions are expected to improve by Tuesday, August 25. Environment Canada forecasts a mix of sun and cloud with a 30% chance of morning showers, clearing in the afternoon and a high of 23°C, with a humidex of 27.
The longer-term outlook remains unsettled. There is a risk of thunderstorms on Thursday, August 27, and another chance of showers by the weekend, with daytime highs between 21 and 23°C. While no active weather alerts are currently in effect for Stratford, residents should be prepared for ongoing wet conditions through the start of the week.
