The Rotary Club of Oshawa is inviting residents to take part in a Foundation Walk on September 27, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in Oshawa, Ontario. The one-hour community event supports The Rotary Foundation, which funds both local and international humanitarian projects.
The walk is part of a broader effort across District 7070, which includes 62 Rotary and Rotaract clubs throughout Southern Ontario. Participants collect pledges to raise money for The Rotary Foundation, and 50 percent of annual contributions return to the district within three years to support local programs.
Money raised helps the Rotary Club of Oshawa continue its long history of community service. The club, founded in 1920, has sponsored the 151 Chadburn Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets since 1942 and awards annual scholarships to cadets. In 2025, the club handed out three scholarships totaling $4,500.
The Rotary Foundation also supports the fight against polio, partnering with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Worldwide donations have exceeded $1 billion, and Canadian Rotarians have helped reduce wild poliovirus cases by more than 99.9 percent.
