Quispamsis Town Council will decide on September 1 whether to waive connection fees for some existing homes that hook up to new water mains.
The third and final reading of By-law Amendment No. 024-23 is set for the regular council meeting at 6 p.m. at Quispamsis Town Hall, 12 Landing Court, in Quispamsis, New Brunswick.
The proposed change to the Water Utility By-law would give a 100% discount on water connection fees for residential buildings in R1, RM, or RU zones that existed before a new water main was installed. The discount applies if the owner connects within 12 months of the deficiency walk-through of the newly installed system.
Council gave first and second reading to the amendment on August 18. The amendment also removes Section 4A.iii from the by-law entirely.
Residents can read the full proposed amendment during regular office hours, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at Town Hall. The public notice is also available on the town’s website.
The water utility discussion comes as Quispamsis invests in expanding its water system. In April 2026, the town received more than $2 million in federal funding to extend water distribution along Hampton Road, a project that could enable up to 1,055 new housing units.
