The Steinbach Aquatic Centre will close for its annual maintenance shutdown from September 8 to 20, 2026, reopening on Monday, September 21. The closure gives staff time to empty the pools, deep clean the facility, fix grout and cracked tiles, and complete any needed repairs.
Residents who use the pool for swimming, fitness classes, or programs should plan ahead for the temporary closure. While the building is closed to the public, staff will be available by phone at 204-346-6207 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to answer questions.
Annual memberships already include the two-week September shutdown, so members will not lose time. The city has run a similar maintenance period each September, though the length has varied depending on the work required. In 2025 the facility was closed for 19 days, from September 2 to 20.
During the closure, registration for fall swimming lessons will still take place online and by phone. Resident registration opens September 15, open registration on September 16, and private or homeschool lesson registration on September 17. The city says staff will be available to help with registration questions during the shutdown.
The Aquatic Centre, located at 330 Park Road E, offers more than 24,000 square feet of space including a six-lane Junior Olympic pool, two water slides, a leisure pool, lazy river, hot tub, sauna, and a children’s play area. The facility is next scheduled to reopen to the public on Monday, September 21.
