Families in Olds can now enjoy the upgraded playground at Briegel Park after the town announced it officially opened on August 20, 2026. The playground, located at 32 Briegel Road in the Highlands neighbourhood, has a new surface designed to be safer and easier to maintain.
The Town of Olds replaced the previous washed gravel with Engineered Wood Fiber, a specially designed playground surfacing material. A new border was also installed to help keep the protective surface in place.
The announcement marks the completion of a summer improvement project that began on July 14, 2026, and was expected to take between four and six weeks. The rock climber play feature remains temporarily closed while the town waits for replacement parts to arrive.
Briegel Park features metal play structures aimed at children aged two to five, along with a picnic table, two benches, a Little Free Library, and garbage and recycling bins. The town operates 16 playgrounds across 15 parks offering more than 220 acres of greenspace.
