Families in Carstairs, Alberta have until August 31 to register their kids for the 2026-2027 minor hockey season. The Carstairs Minor Hockey Association is reminding parents that the deadline is less than two weeks away, and both returning players and newcomers are welcome to sign up.
The association offers programs for children starting at age 3 in Pre-Hockey, and runs through U7, U9, and U11. About 120 young players take part each season. Practices for U7 through U11 are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the Carstairs Memorial Complex (Pre-Hockey skates once weekly on weekends), and the season goes from mid-September to mid-March.
Girls who want to play hockey can register through the Renegades Minor Hockey Association, which serves players from Carstairs, Crossfield, and Didsbury. Female hockey programming is separate from the co-ed teams and is coordinated through the Renegades website.
Early bird pricing ended on June 30, with early-bird fees running about $214 for Pre-Hockey up to $803 for U11; prices increased by 10 per cent on July 1. Christofer Atchison is the president of the Carstairs Minor Hockey Association, and Jesse Sayer is the vice-president.
Parents can complete registration online at the Carstairs Minor Hockey Association website. The association is run entirely by volunteers and is a registered non-profit, so getting involved as a coach or helper is also an option for families.
