The Steinbach Pistons will kick off their home schedule for the 2026-27 season on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Southeast Event Centre when they host the Winkler Flyers.
This is the Pistons’ second season in the $74.3 million facility on Elmdale Street. The building, which opened in March 2025, has a hockey arena that seats 2,400 fans.
Cole Cairns, a 20-year-old forward from Winnipeg, will lead the team as captain this season. Cairns has played 129 games in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League during the regular season and playoffs combined. Head coach and general manager Paul Dyck returns behind the bench.
The Pistons averaged 1,885 fans per game last season, which ranked second in the Canadian Junior Hockey League. The team reached the MJHL semi-finals before losing to the Virden Oil Capitals in six games.
Steinbach has a strong junior hockey tradition, with three Turnbull Cup championships in 2013, 2018, and 2023, along with an ANAVET Cup title in 2018. The home opener against Winkler is expected to draw a large crowd as fans welcome the team back for another season.
