Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) has teamed up with the Collingwood Public Library to offer free digital books, audiobooks, magazines, and other resources to patients, families, and visitors. Announced on September 3, 2026, the new program provides 14 days of free access to the library’s digital collection through the “Bridging the Gap” initiative.
Visitors can sign up using QR codes displayed on screens in the hospital’s patient waiting areas. No residency in Collingwood is required, making the service available to the many people who travel to CGMH from across the South Georgian Bay region, including Wasaga Beach, Clearview Township, and The Blue Mountains.
The initiative aims to make hospital waits and stays a little easier by offering something to read, listen to, or learn during stressful times. “Thanks to a new partnership with the Collingwood Public Library, patients, families and visitors now have access to free digital books, audiobooks, magazines and other resources through the Library’s Bridging the Gap initiative,” the hospital stated.
The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital is an 84-bed acute care hospital at 459 Hume Street serving more than 73,000 permanent residents and 3.5 million annual visitors to the South Georgian Bay region. The library offers digital resources such as eBooks, audiobooks, newspapers, magazines, and video streaming through various platforms.
