Registration is now open for the annual Trailfest event in Ajax, giving residents a chance to explore the local trail network through guided cycling and walking activities. The community gathering will take place at the Audley Recreation Centre, located at 1955 Audley Rd. N.
The event highlights the town’s commitment to active transportation. Ajax is recognized as one of the first Bicycle Friendly Communities in Ontario, a designation administered by the Share the Road Cycling Coalition. The area features a multi-modal transportation system that includes over 140 kilometres of trails, dedicated bike lanes, and shared use lanes.
Participants can choose from a variety of activities tailored to different experience levels. Cycling options include the longer Ride with the Mayor route, as well as the Tour d’Ajax, which offers mid-range and shorter distance rides suitable for families. Walking and strolling activities are also available for those who prefer to explore the paths on foot.
Attendance at the event is free. The festivities are supported by local sponsors, including Northern Cycle and Longo’s, who provide prizes and support for the community day.
