The Durham District School Board is asking families and community members in Ajax, Ontario, to provide feedback on how school funding should be used for the 2026-2027 school year. The board has set aside four dates for public budget meetings, which will take place on April 13, May 12, June 2, and June 8, 2026.
Local residents and community organizations are invited to share their priorities by making a presentation or sending written notes to the Education Finance Committee. These public sessions are scheduled for the meetings on April 13 and June 2, 2026.
There are deadlines for those who want to speak at the sessions. Requests to participate in the April 13 meeting must be turned in by April 7, 2026, while requests for the June 2 meeting must be submitted by May 27, 2026.
All budget meetings will happen in person at the school board Education Centre. To make the process more accessible, the board will also broadcast the meetings live on its official YouTube channel.
This process gives the community a direct way to influence how money is spent on local schools, special programs, and daily operations. By listening to public feedback, the board aims to understand local needs before the final budget for the upcoming school year is finished.
