Over 50,000 people packed Ajax Downs Casino from June 5 to 7, 2026, as the Rotary Club of Ajax’s annual Ribfest returned with a record turnout and what organizers are calling a wonderful fundraising success.
The three-day festival featured six award-winning ribbers, more than 30 food and craft vendors, live music on stage, a kids’ carnival, and special guests from Reptilia. The event, now a staple in Durham Region, is the club’s main fundraiser each year.
“Thank you to our patrons, our sponsors, the ribbers, food truck and tent vendors, marketplace vendors, music performers, and countless volunteers who have made this event a wonderful fundraising success with over 50,000 attending on June 5, 6 and 7,” the Rotary Club of Ajax said in a statement. “We will see you next year.”
The club, which has served the community for more than 70 years, has raised more than $1 million for local and international charities during that time. Proceeds from Ribfest go toward groups, non-profits, and community projects supported by the organization.
This year’s lineup of acts included Jaxseat Driver, Summer of 69, Jake Staufer, Sam Nina, Rhythm Revue, Georgia Rose, The Irelands, Little Peter and the Elegants, Latin Dancers of Durham, and the Children and Youth Dance Theatre of Toronto, plus a cultural fashion show. Organizers credited the large turnout and strong support to the mix of entertainment and family-friendly attractions.
Ribfest has seen steady growth in recent years, with attendance leaping from more than 35,000 visitors in 2024 to this year’s record. The club says plans are already underway for another three-day event in 2027.
