Residents in Ajax are facing a sudden cold snap this weekend as temperatures drop significantly below the seasonal average. According to Environment Canada, the area is seeing a sharp decline in temperatures, with the cold conditions expected to continue into Monday, April 20, 2026.
While no active weather alerts are currently in effect for Ajax, the forecast for Sunday night predicts a low of -2°C, with wind chill values making it feel as cold as -8°C. Conditions will remain chilly on Monday, with a high of 3°C and a wind chill of -7°C expected during the morning hours. This drop in temperature is 5 to 8 degrees below the typical seasonal normal of 12 to 13°C for mid-April.
These conditions may catch many off guard, especially as overnight temperatures dipping below freezing are uncommon for this late in the month. The Weather Network notes that this year’s spring has been characterized by mild spells being offset by periods of colder weather, a trend expected to persist through the end of April.
