On February 27, 2026, the Durham Regional Police Service announced that Austin Jeffrey Stremble, a 22-year-old Toronto man, has been charged with sexual assault following an incident in Ajax. The charges stem from an investigation into a report made on July 5, 2025, in the area of Harwood Avenue South and Bayly Street East.
Investigators say the victim and Stremble first met through the social media app Snapchat. The man was reportedly using the account handle AJSWRLD22 on the platform when he connected with the woman.
Police believe there may be other individuals who have had similar encounters with Stremble and are appealing for any additional victims or witnesses to come forward. Stremble has since been released on an undertaking.
