Families in Ajax can now register for a variety of summer day camps as the Town of Ajax opens enrollment for children and youth ages 4 to 17. The programs run weekly from late June through August 2026, offering local kids a chance to participate in sports, arts and crafts, performing arts, nature activities, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programs.
Camps will take place at several town facilities, including the Ajax Community Centre, Audley Recreation Centre, and McLean Community Centre. In addition to the paid camp options, the town is offering a free Playgrounds Program for children ages 6 to 12. This program runs Monday to Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., between June 29 and August 28, 2026.
To ensure a safe environment for all participants, the town mandates that all camp staff hold current certifications in Standard First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR-C). Staff must also complete the High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development, undergo criminal record checks, and participate in comprehensive pre-summer training.
The town also provides inclusive support services for children and youth ages 4 to 21 with special needs. According to the town, these services include extra staff or volunteers to assist in camps and are available free of charge to residents. Families seeking financial support may be eligible for discounts on program fees, including a 34 percent reduction based on household income or a 50 percent discount for those receiving benefits through Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program.
