A 60-year-old man from Whitby faces several charges following a knife assault at the Christian Faith Outreach Centre in Ajax, Ontario, on March 9, 2026. Officers from the Durham Regional Police Service arrived at the building on Harwood Avenue South around 6:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a person armed with a weapon.
Investigators found that an argument between two men led to one man pulling out a knife and slashing the other. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, though police say the wounds are not life-threatening.
The suspect was already under a court order that banned him from possessing weapons at the time of the attack. He is now charged with aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, and two counts of breach of probation, and he remains in custody following a bail hearing.
