Aurora, Ontario is in for a stretch of warm and sunny weather this week, with temperatures set to climb well above normal and no alerts in effect from Environment Canada.
Monday kicked off with clear skies and an afternoon high of 26°C, making it feel like 27 with the humidity. The UV index reached 9, which is considered very high, meaning residents should take care if they plan to be outside for long.
Things will heat up even more on Tuesday, with a high of 29°C and a humidex near 34. Thursday is expected to be the warmest day at 30°C, though there will be a mix of sun and cloud and a 40 percent chance of showers. Normal highs for this time of year sit around 23°C, so this week is noticeably warmer than usual.
With the UV index at very high levels, Environment Canada advises avoiding the sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., seeking shade, wearing UV-protective sunglasses, and reapplying sunscreen every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating.
The clear start won’t last all week. Showers could return as early as Tuesday afternoon, and the chance of rain lingers between 30 and 40 percent from Wednesday through Friday. Still, no weather alerts are in effect, so outdoor plans should be manageable with a bit of flexibility.
