The Tłı̨chǫ Government has brought back its free tax filing assistance for residents in Behchokǫ̀, Northwest Territories, for the 2026 tax season. This service is designed to help local citizens complete their tax returns without having to pay for expensive professional help. The events will happen March 14, 21 and April 4, 2026.
Please attend the Sportsplex in Behchokǫ̀, on a walk-in basis, between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The program is also open to residents living in the communities of Gamètì, Wekweètì, and Whatì, on alternative dates. By providing this help, the government aims to ensure that everyone can access important tax credits and benefits that help families with their daily costs.
Grand Chief Clifford Daniels, who was elected in September 2025, oversees the program from the government head office in Behchokǫ̀. The initiative helps residents manage complicated paperwork, which can often be a barrier for people living in remote northern areas.
The assistance is available now to help people avoid the stress and cost of filing their taxes. This effort is part of a focus on helping residents stay financially independent and ensuring that government support reaches everyone who is entitled to it.
