Blackfalds, Alberta is looking for volunteers to help with the 10th annual Winter Warmth Fundraiser on September 24, 2026. The event starts at 6:00 p.m. at the Blackfalds Community Centre and raises money for the Winter Wear Program, which provides coats, boots, and snow pants to local youth in need.

Volunteers 18 and older must complete a volunteer application form and a criminal record check as part of the screening process. Last year’s fundraiser helped 135 Blackfalds youth receive warm winter gear. FCSS Manager Wendy Griffin says demand is expected to rise in 2026 because of price inflation and economic pressures on families. Tickets for the event cost $30 and are on sale until September 17 at the Blackfalds FCSS office at 5018 Waghorn Street. The evening includes a catered meal, cash bar, live entertainment, and a live auction featuring handmade quilts, artisan creations, and desserts from local bakeries.
Blackfalds FCSS is also accepting donations for the live auction. To donate, call 403-600-9066. The deadline to apply for the Winter Wear Program is October 2, 2026, and applications are available online or at the FCSS office. Blackfalds FCSS is an 80/20 funding partnership between the provincial Children and Youth Ministry and the Town of Blackfalds.
