Bracebridge drivers will face some brief delays this week as crews with the District Municipality of Muskoka apply a road surface treatment to roads in the area. Red Pine Trail and Miriam Drive in Bracebridge, along with Old Muskoka Road in Huntsville, are all set to receive slurry seal work during the week of July 27 to 31, 2026.
The District of Muskoka says the slurry seal treatment is a preventative measure that uses a thin layer of asphalt emulsion mixed with fine aggregate and mineral filler to fill small cracks and seal the pavement. The treatment helps keep water out and extends the lifespan of low-volume roads, meaning fewer costly repairs down the line.
During working hours, there will be possible lane restrictions with flagging operations and reduced speeds. Drivers should follow the directions of flaggers and watch for posted signage. Only minor hold-ups are expected.
This week’s work follows a round of similar treatments done just last week on Rostrevor Road, Ziska Road, Zion Road, Kirrie Glen, Partridge Road, and Wilson Falls Road in Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes. The work is part of a district-wide program delivered under the 2025 High Float Surface Treatment contract, which also includes stretches on Muskoka Road 9, 6, and 8 later this summer.
The ongoing road maintenance reflects a broader push by the District of Muskoka to keep its transportation network in good shape. Since 2022, the District has invested $117 million in roads and transportation out of a total infrastructure commitment of $257 million.
