Residents in Bracebridge, Ontario, are being told to prepare for a sharp return to winter weather this week as temperatures are expected to drop significantly after a mild start to the month. According to Environment Canada, the spring-like high of 9°C on March 9, 2026, will give way to freezing rain or snow by Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The warm weather is expected to end abruptly as a deep freeze moves into the area, with temperatures forecasted to plummet to -12°C by the night of Thursday, March 12, 2026. This rapid change from warmth to freezing conditions is likely to create hazardous travel as melting snow and ice refreeze on local streets and sidewalks.
The Town of Bracebridge is advising people to limit their travel during the worst of the weather because road conditions can change very quickly. To help road crews clear the ice and snow, the municipality reminds residents that the winter parking ban remains in effect until April 15, 2026.
Under the current rules, parking on the street is not allowed between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Keeping the roads clear during these hours allows Town of Bracebridge Public Works teams to salt, sand, and plow effectively as the weather shifts.
