Bracebridge, Ontario, will kick off the week with bright sunshine and a very high UV index, according to Environment Canada. Monday’s forecast calls for a high of 26°C, with the humidex making it feel closer to 27, and clear skies overhead.
The UV index is expected to hit 9, which is considered very high. That means residents will want to limit time in the sun, especially between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and keep sunscreen handy. Sun protection is key, including wearing a hat, sunglasses, and reapplying sunscreen every couple of hours, as described in Canada’s sun safety guidelines.
The warmth continues Tuesday with a high of 28°C, but clouds will start moving in by early afternoon and there is a 30 percent chance of showers. Environment Canada warns of a possible thunderstorm later in the day, and the humidex could reach 33, so it will feel quite muggy.
Through the rest of the week, expect a mix of sun and cloud with daytime highs between 23 and 28°C. Chances of showers linger from Tuesday night right into Friday, ranging from 30 to 60 percent, so an umbrella might be wise to have close by.
With nearly 15 and a half hours of daylight this time of year, there is plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors. Just remember to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade when possible.
