The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Bracebridge Detachment has charged two drivers with impaired driving following two separate single-vehicle collisions in the Muskoka region earlier this month. One of the incidents involved a pickup truck crashing onto a private lawn in Gravenhurst on Monday, March 9, 2026.
In that case, officers were called to Sparrow Lake Route D at approximately 9:20 p.m. to investigate a report of a pickup truck that had left the roadway. The vehicle crashed through a ditch before coming to a stop on the front lawn of a nearby residence. Following an investigation, police arrested and charged 39-year-old Susan Russell of Barrie, Ontario, with impaired operation and operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80.
This incident followed another single-vehicle collision that occurred on Thursday, March 5, 2026, on Highway 11 South near Taylor Road in Bracebridge. In that earlier crash, 26-year-old Joshua Jones of Baysville was arrested and charged with impaired operation and refusal to comply with a demand.
The OPP is reminding residents to stay safe and be aware of winter driving conditions that can make the roads dangerous. Police say they will continue to focus on enforcement and public awareness to maintain safety on local roadways.
